    Microsoft Applications Information

Many Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are used by BCHC staff daily. The Digital Skills Team can support users in the use of these applications from basic level through to the advanced use of these applications. Classroom based courses are being made available to staff in these applications, with Excel and Outlook being available first. Courses will be aimed at a variety of skills levels, from beginner level upwards. These courses will be publicised on the Trust intranet and in the weekly newsletter.

Classroom based courses are also available for Microsoft Publisher on request.

The Trust is in the process of moving to Office 365 – which is the latest version of the core Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Support is available to support users in transitioning to this new version as there are considerable changes in how they are used compared to the previous version of Office 2010. Users can view the written guides for each application which detail the changes or attend one of the Teams webinars which are run regularly and are advertised on the Trust intranet. 121 support is also available, and this can either be provided virtually via Teams, or face to face at one of our training venues.

Online training is available via the NHS Training system, the IT Skills Pathway, which is free for all staff to use. The system is completely self-service. Once registered, users can enrol on any course on the system free of charge. There is no limit on how many courses a user can enrol on and no end date by which courses must be completed.  Please see the the Digital Skills section
